Guest Lecture at the Higher School of Management (GSOM) of the University of St. Petersburg
18 February, Andreas Bitzi, managing director of quality partners and GSOM Program Advisory Board member for BA for International Management, held a guest lecture at the Graduate School of Management (GSOM).
He gave an introduction to bachelor students into Russia’s current economic situation and outlook, as well as into opportunities and challenges of foreign business in Russia.
The students were shown the current low growth environment and the different reasons thereof (low productivity growth and what drives it, low investments, low construction activities, decreasing disposable income, demographics, etc), factors that would boost growth and which of these factors the Russian government wants to address. They learned about the influence of the sanctions environment and the dependence on commodities exports, about industrial policy and import substitutions, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to the economy, ease of doing business rankings, competitiveness rankings and factors to watch for foreign investors.
Thanks to GSOM for giving an opportunity to share experience with motivated students.
